2,794 govt run and aided schools in Mizoram

Aizawl, March 25: Mizoram has at present as many as 2,794 schools which are run and aided by the state government, state Education Minister H. Rohluna informed the house today. Replying to a question from Lalruatkima of opposition the Mizo National Front (MNF), H. Rohluna said the total number of Primary Schools, Middle Schools, High Schools and Higher Secondary Schools in Mizoram is 2,794 and these are either owned by the Government or receiving aids from the Government.

The minister said that the Government as of now has no intention of reviewing the existing school timing. However, the matter will be re-considered according to the report of State Level Study Group on School Timing if need arises, he added.

Denying the allegation, the minister said that change in school timing was not necessitated by measure to ease traffic jam in Aizawl city.

The change in school timing according to him was introduced rather to help improve the social life and daily routine of the locals (Mizos).
