Rs. 3862.00 lakhs sanctioned under BADP in 2015 – 2016

Aizawl, April 1: Ministry of Home Affairs sanctioned Rs. 3862.00 lakhs for carrying out development works under Border Area Development Programme (BADP) in 2015 – 2016. Rs. 3812.00 lakhs out of it has been utilized and the remaining Rs. 50 lakhs kept for the purpose of follow-up works by Monitoring Cell.

This was reported today in the meeting of State Level Screening Committee on Border Area Development Programme (BADP) held at Secretariat Conference Hall, New Secretariat Complex here. Addl. Chief Secretary Arvind Ray, IAS chaired the meeting while Lalhmingthanga, IAS, Secretary, Rural Development Department explained on the development works carried out under BADP.

Officers from different RD Blocks also gave reports on the development works carried out in their respective area during 2015 – 2016. They also highlighted their action plans for 2016 – 2017.

Under Border Area Development Programme (BADP), Agriculture link road, Community Hall, School building, Anganwadi Centre building, Health Sub-Centre building, playground and others are constructed.

The programme is implemented in Mizoram by Rural Development Department with District Level Committee and State Level Committee to help execute the works under the programme, which is fully sponsored by the Centre.

State Level Committee is named State Level Screening Committee (SLSC) with Chief Secretary as the Chairman. State Level Screening Committee look into the proposals made by the District Level Committee and after approval it sends the same to Union Ministry of Home Affairs for sanction of fund.

State Level Screening Committee sits in the month of March/April every year. The meeting today looked into the proposals made for 2016-17.
