1,003 applications have been submitted for the Bana Kaih Scheme

Aizawl, 15 Oct (Zoram News) :  Mizoram Agricultural Marketing Board held a ‘Bana Kaih Scheme 2024 Sensitization cum Consultation Meeting’ on October 11, 2024, at the Irrigation & Water Resources Auditorium. The meeting brought together representatives from District Agricultural Marketing Committees across Mizoram to discuss the progress and goals of the scheme, with 1,003 applications already submitted for participation.

During the meeting, it was revealed that through the scheme’s online portal, 1,003 applicants have expressed interest in becoming progress partners. The total project fund allocation for these applicants is ₹182.11 crore. The Commerce & Industries Department has received the highest number of applications, with 425 submissions, while the Animal Husbandry & Veterinary (AH&Vety) Department has received 304 applications.

Ministers Stress the Importance of Bana Kaih Scheme for Economic Growth

The event was presided over by Agriculture & Farmers Welfare Minister PC Vanlalruata and Horticulture Minister Prof. Lalnilawma. In his address, Minister Vanlalruata emphasized that the Bana Kaih Scheme is aimed at helping farmers and entrepreneurs access necessary funds for their projects. "The scheme is designed to provide financial support to those engaged in productive work, enabling them to secure a stable livelihood," he said, adding that the initiative will also ensure farmers can sustain their businesses.

Minister Prof. Lalnilawma highlighted the success of the Operation Ginger initiative, which has seen a 70.45% success rate in promoting ginger cultivation across districts. He encouraged youth to take full advantage of the Bana Kaih Scheme, noting its potential for creating new economic opportunities. "With the right approach and hard work, the Bana Kaih Scheme will empower our youth to achieve self-sufficiency," he said.

Chief Minister's Adviser Calls for Cooperation

Dr. KC Lalmalsawmzauva, Adviser to the Chief Minister for the Handholding Scheme, also spoke during the event. He underscored the importance of collaboration between workers and investors, stressing that the scheme aims to foster mutual growth and productivity while promoting sustainable land use practices.

The consultation meeting was led by Mizoram Agricultural Marketing Board member secretary Ramdinliani. Attendees included district officials such as Deputy Commissioners, officers from Agriculture, Horticulture, Rural Development, Animal Husbandry, Commerce & Industries, Civil Supply, Cooperative, and Soil Conservation departments. Planning Secretary Lalmalsawma Pachuau provided an overview of the implementation process for Bana Kaih Scheme 2024.
