Aizawl, 15 Oct (Zoram News) Aizawl West College recently organized a state-level workshop titled "West Impress - State Level Workshop: Innovative Education Aligning Mizoram Curriculum with Future Career Opportunities." The event, held yesterday, was inaugurated by Mizoram Youth Commission (MYC) Chairman, Malsawmzuala Ralte.

During his address, Ralte emphasized the growing opportunities for Mizo youth to explore career prospects in countries like Japan, Korea, and China. He stated that language skills play a crucial role in preparing for these international opportunities and highlighted ongoing efforts to establish a Centre of Excellence for Language Learning in Mizoram.

"We value the human resources our state possesses. Across India and in countries like Japan, Korea, and China, our youth are being given opportunities to work. The MYC is working hard to ensure they are prepared for these global careers," Ralte said.

With the introduction of the New Education Policy (NEP), the university syllabus in Mizoram is being revamped to focus on vocational skills and employment readiness. Ralte added, "This initiative will empower us with the right tools to contribute effectively to various industries."

The workshop also stressed the importance of discipline, career aspirations, and time management for youth. "Our young people need proper guidance, structure, and motivation," Ralte noted.

MYC's Career Training Initiatives

In collaboration with the Honda India Foundation and the Visan Foundation, the MYC is rolling out the Project Buniyaad Hospitality Management Training Course. Trainees will be eligible to work in major hotels across India, with the MYC aiming to send 100 Mizo youth to work in Tirupati soon. Recruitment efforts for this project are currently underway.

Ralte also shared updates on the MYC’s partnerships, including a health and skills training program with the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC). The initiative follows successful deployments of Mizo youth to Japan for healthcare and related sectors. The MYC is also planning to open coaching centers in Aizawl, Lunglei, Saiha, and Serchhip to prepare candidates for competitive exams like the UPSC, under its Mission UPSC (Taitesena) project.

Additionally, the commission is taking steps to enhance language learning, with two Mizo youth already undergoing training in Mandarin (Chinese).
