Champhai hosts Hnahsin Kut Festival 2024

Champhai, 5 Oct (Zoram News): Tourism Minister Pi Lalrinpuii graced the Hnahsin Kut Festival in Champhai today, with the celebration drawing many visitors. The festival, which promotes local culture and traditions, was marked by lively events and a strong show of community participation.

In her address, Tourism Minister Pi Lalrinpuii highlighted the Mizoram government's efforts to enhance tourism through innovative strategies such as Community-Based Tourism (CBT). She stated that the government is committed to empowering local communities by supporting their active involvement in tourism development. Pi Lalrinpuii praised the Champhai Nature Conservancy (CNC) and the people of Champhai for their dedication to preserving the environment and promoting sustainable tourism.

 

The Minister also emphasized the importance of community engagement and expressed gratitude to the people of Champhai for their cooperation. She noted that Champhai, with its breathtaking landscapes and rich cultural heritage, has immense potential to attract tourists. She also mentioned that the state government will continue its efforts to advance tourism through various initiatives, including the Swadesh Darshan 2.0 project.

 

Pi Lalrinpuii encouraged more widespread participation in Hnahsin Kut, suggesting that future festivals could be even more grand and include additional attractions. She also expressed hope that the festival would grow into one of the most celebrated in Mizoram and the region, further boosting tourism and local economic activities.

 

As part of the event, Pi Lalrinpuii handed over ₹8 lakh from the North Eastern Council (NEC) to the Hnahsin Kut Organising Committee. Another ₹2 lakh will be released once the necessary documentation is completed. She thanked the officials involved, including Pu TBC Lalvenchhunga, Adviser to the Chief Minister, and Tourism Director Pi R. Lalrodingi, for their efforts in making the festival a success.

 

The festival featured a Cycling Competition, where the winners were awarded prizes by the Minister. The winners in the various categories were as follows:

 

- Elite Category: 

  1. Mesak Vanlalvena 

  2. Peter Zohmingliana 

  3. T. Lalnunmawia 

 

- Junior Category: 

  1. Vanlalruata 

  2. Lalrinsanga 

  3. Hmingsangbera 

 

- Masters Category: 

  1. David Rualzakhuma 

  2. Gospel Lalhmingmawia 

  3. C. Lalnunmawia 

 

Additionally, a Painting Competition was organized by the Information & Public Relations Department and the Hnahsin Kut Organising Committee, where winners were awarded prizes in two categories:

 

- High School Category: 

  1. HT Malsawmtluangi, Springdale Academy 

  2. Vanlalthakima, Govt. Hnahlan HS 

  3. Abisag Lalhruaithangi, Academy of Art & Science 

  - Consolation: Esther Lalthanpuii & C. Lalengtluangi, Corner Stone 

 

- Higher Secondary School & College Category: 

  1. Rualchhingi, Govt. GM HSS 

  2. Lawmsangzuali, Govt. GM HSS 

  3. Lalzarmawii, Einstein HSS 

  - Consolation: Lalbiakmawii, Champhai South HSS & Lalthanpuii, Govt. Champhai College 

 

The Hnahsin Kut Festival aims to promote the rich cultural heritage of Champhai and provide a platform for local talents. The event continues to be an essential part of Mizoram’s tourism calendar, drawing visitors from across the state and beyond.
