IndiGo Doubles Flights Between Aizawl and Delhi: A Boost for Mizoram’s Connectivity and Growth

Aizawl, 5 Oct (Zoram News): In a significant move to enhance Mizoram’s connectivity, Chief Minister Pu Lalduhoma flagged off the doubling of IndiGo flights between Aizawl and Delhi at Lengpui Airport today. This expansion is seen as a key step toward strengthening the state’s link with the rest of India, improving transportation and boosting economic, cultural, and social ties.

Chief Minister Celebrates Enhanced Air Connectivity

During the flag-off ceremony, Chief Minister Pu Lalduhoma expressed his gratitude to the Ministry of Civil Aviation and IndiGo Airlines for their swift response to his request for increased flight frequency. He emphasized that the additional flights would significantly improve air transportation to Mizoram, making it easier for residents and visitors to travel while fostering deeper connections across sectors.

“This development is not just about better air service—it’s about strengthening Mizoram’s ties with the rest of India. Improved connectivity will drive economic growth, cultural exchange, and social integration,” said the Chief Minister.

IndiGo’s Commitment to Mizoram’s Growth

Pu R.K. Singh, Special Director (Retd.) of IndiGo, also spoke at the event. He highlighted that the decision to double flights was made to support Mizoram’s economic expansion and to further integrate the state into the national socio-cultural landscape.

“These additional flights between Aizawl and Delhi will unlock new opportunities for trade, tourism, and collaboration between Mizoram and the rest of the country,” remarked Pu R.K. Singh.

Dignitaries Support Mizoram’s Progress

The event was attended by several high-profile figures, including MP Pu Richard Vanlalhmangaiha, MLA Pu H. Lalzirliana, Chief Secretary Dr. Renu Sharma, and Commissioner and Secretary to the Chief Minister Pu Vanlaldina Fanai, alongside officials from the Mizoram Civil Aviation Department and IndiGo representatives.

New Flight Schedule to Boost Trade and Tourism

Starting today, IndiGo will increase its flights between Aizawl and Delhi from 5 to 10 per week. The schedule now includes daily flights, with additional services on Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday. This enhanced frequency is expected to improve trade opportunities, tourism inflows, and overall connectivity for the people of Mizoram, facilitating easier access to the rest of India and beyond.
