LESDE Department and Schneider Electric Sign Agreement to Enhance ITI Infrastructure in Mizoram

Aizawl, 16 Oct (Zoram News) : Today, Pu Lalnghinglova Hmar, Minister of State for Labour, Employment, Skill Development & Entrepreneurship (LESDE), chaired a meeting with officials from the LESDE Department and representatives from Schneider Electric India Foundation (SEIF) at MINECO, Aizawl. The discussion focused on improving the infrastructure of Mizoram's Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) and promoting skill development and entrepreneurship among Mizo youth.

As a result of this collaboration, a Letter of Intent (LoI) was signed today to officially commence the partnership. Under this agreement, SEIF will assist in upgrading laboratories at three ITIs in Mizoram—Aizawl, Lunglei, and Siaha. These upgraded labs will offer courses in electrical work, solar energy, and industrial automation. SEIF will also fund the necessary resources to establish and improve the laboratories. Additionally, SEIF will provide specialized training for ITI instructors, ensuring they are equipped to teach the new courses effectively. For ITI students, entrepreneurship training and awareness sessions will be regularly conducted.

SEIF also plans to provide opportunities for ITI students to gain experience and mentorship at their Entrepreneurship Incubation Centre in Bengaluru, further supporting the development of young entrepreneurs from Mizoram.

During the event, Minister Pu Lalnghinglova Hmar expressed his gratitude for the collaboration between the LESDE Department and Schneider Electric India Foundation. He emphasized his desire to see similar initiatives extend to other colleges and educational institutions in Mizoram. The Minister highlighted the talent and potential of Mizo youth, mentioning their outstanding achievements in national competitions like IndiaSkills, where they won 8 medals, making Mizoram the top-performing state in the Northeast. He also proudly announced that two Mizo youth would represent India at the WorldSkills Competition 2024 in Lyon, France.

SEIF representatives echoed the Minister's sentiments, reaffirming their commitment to helping Mizo youth succeed through improved ITI infrastructure and training programs.

The signing of the Letter of Intent was attended by LESDE Secretary Pu Lalmalsawma Pachuau and Director Pi Angela Zothanpuii, along with SEIF’s Chief Operating Officer, Abhimanyu Sahu, who traveled from Bengaluru, Karnataka, for the occasion.

This collaboration marks a significant step toward advancing technical education and entrepreneurship in Mizoram.
