Mizoram Launches Birth Registration-Based Aadhaar Enrolment for Children Under 5

Aizawl, 4 Oct (Zoram News): Mizoram has officially rolled out the Birth Registration-Based Aadhaar Enrolment (BRBAE) process, making it easier for children aged 0-5 years to obtain their Baal Aadhaar. The initiative, spearheaded by the National Health Mission (NHM) Mizoram, was launched on 2nd October 2024, streamlining Aadhaar enrolment by automatically fetching data from the Civil Registration System (CRS) Portal using the Birth Registration Number (BRN).

Parents now only need to provide their child's birth certificate and the Aadhaar number of either parent to enroll their child for Baal Aadhaar, eliminating the need for lengthy paperwork. This simplified process ensures faster and more efficient Aadhaar generation for newborns.

The National Health Mission, Mizoram, has been onboarded by the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) as a Registrar cum Enrolment Agency to carry out Aadhaar enrolments using the BRBAE system across districts. The goal is to ensure that children throughout the state, even in remote areas, are easily enrolled in the Aadhaar system from birth.

UIDAI’s Regional Office in Guwahati is providing continuous support to Mizoram’s implementation of the Aadhaar ecosystem. From holding workshops to conducting door-to-door enrolments in remote regions, UIDAI is working closely with the General Administration Department, Government of Mizoram—the state's nodal department for Aadhaar activities.

With BRBAE in place, Mizoram is making significant strides in ensuring that all children receive their Aadhaar numbers shortly after birth, enhancing access to government schemes and services tied to Aadhaar.
