New Delhi, 16 Oct (Zoram News) : In a bid to expedite the distribution of pending scholarships, the Mizo Zirlai Pawl (MZP) engaged with officials from the Ministry of Tribal Affairs in New Delhi. MZP reported that a scholarship amount of ₹24 crore is expected to be sanctioned soon.

MZP engages with the Ministry of Tribal Affairs to resolve delays in ₹24 crore Tribal Scholarship disbursement for Mizoram students. Efforts are underway to ensure funds reach students promptly
The Tribal Scholarship for the academic year 2023-2024 has already seen the first round of distribution, benefiting approximately 6,000 students, with around ₹7 crore already disbursed.

Due to delays in the release of funds by the Central Government to the Mizoram State Government, further disbursements have been stalled. Concerned about the urgent needs of students, MZP leaders met with officials from the Ministry of Tribal Affairs to push for the prompt release of the remaining funds. They highlighted the financial strain on students and urged for a swift resolution.

The Ministry informed that the pending ₹24 crore for the Post Matric Tribal Scholarship is likely to be sanctioned soon. However, they noted that it would take some time before all the required funds are fully disbursed to meet the students' needs.

Once the funds are transferred to the Mizoram State Nodal Account (SNA), the Mizoram Scholarship Board will coordinate the further process, including managing SMS notifications, PFMS (Public Financial Management System) updates, and other necessary procedures. MZP will continue monitoring the process to ensure that the funds reach students' accounts as soon as possible.
